Farid, I think it's about time for something more permanent than these regular posts about what the whackos are saying. The whackos will always be there...until we establish something to ridicule them before they start. I floated this idea before...and I'll say it again. The InsideAssyria web site should have a few static pages which spell out a few truths,...or at least, opinions, about the various things that the whackos say on a regular basis (often like broken records, nay, I say to thee, broken records indeed), and some responses from sane people like Tiglath, etc. Let's start with a simple one: #1 Stereotypical Assyrian from AINA: "US help Iraq very much bad Saddam good US. Christian are hard trouble there. Discrimination from the Muslims and Q--ds. Much better now after the war of liberiation from tyranny. US Freedom golden streets everyone equal free to practice Christian." #1 Sane response: "The recent unjust and unjustified war and occupation of Iraq, which shall henceforth be referred to as Vietnam II, did not help Iraq at all. Looking at the history of Iraq (and Iran) will show anyone who cares to see several decades of US involvement. The US interfered in Iran with Mossadegh in the 50's, and onward until today. Of course, before the US was ever in Iraq, the British occupied it and took advantage of our idiots back then by promising them everything under the sun. Essentially it starts with oil, but it's much more than that. In the 70s, when Iran and Iraq had billions in reserves and when Iraq had the best health care system in the middle east, free higher education, held symposia on all aspects of science and industry, and had a high standard of living, and even TOURISM from around the world, someone in the US decided that it would be a bad idea to let this continue. A war was instigated between Iraq and Iraq, with the US selling weapons to both sides, including providing dreaded WEAPONS OF MASS DISTR(A)CTION to their close ally and protogé, Saddam Hussein. This included chemical, as well as biological weapons...." God damn it...I can't continue. Can someone else please add in their thoughts on this matter? I'd love for this to be #1 on our list of "assinine opinions and sane responses". #2 can be about religion. #3 can be a quote taken directly from a post on AINA...we can even give the person who wrote said quote credit, nay, I say, more than Credit! ......................... pancho wrote: >...Jassim, or Joseph or Aprim, makes no difference...make statements...write "articles" or "books", in JAPANESE no less...and whenever anyone merely asks to SEE a book...or presents alternate references that refute or clarify those shoved at us...we are called TRAITORS...HATERS...ENEMIES and the rest of it. This is so damn childish and obviously the result of liars getting caught with their lies down around their knees...rapidly stroking each other in hopes the friction will confuse you. WHEW! That was HOT! --------------------- |
