But his human spirit had not wavered, had not stopped believing in humanity, in the goodness of man, and in the kindness of strangers. Himself, a total stranger to me, who turned out to be one of the most decent, trust-worthy men I have yet to meet, protecting me, a "Chritian-Assyrian-American", from border officials, from the corrupt system, from the unknown of the desert darkness, until he got me safe to my cousins.
