Sunkherib forgave the Babylonians twice for their rebellions...and a rebellion was a dangerous and costly affair back then...he didn't forgive them for having foreskins, or cutting them off...for their sexual practises or because Ashur was grumpy that morning...he forgave them for the kinds of ACTS the Hebrews would have killed every man, woman, child and gold fish for...he became "bloody" the third time they rebelled...killing his son and heir. ...contrast that with the Holocaust...which didn't happen 3000 years ago, brought on by Pagans, people without the benefit of 2000 years of Christ's "teachings"...it happened SIXTY years ago. What crime had six million Jewish people committed? What crime had the Chzechs committed?...the Poles?...the Russians?...the French?...the British?...millions upon millions of people were killed between the years 1914-1944...that's barely THIRTY YEARS! The Assyrians skinned alive the leaders of rebellions...people who caused real and actual suffering for all. Of course there were wars back then...imagine where things would be today if each sity-state had remained as it was...separate and apart from its neighbors...without those ancient empires nothing could have moved or developed beyond a primitive stage...those wars BUILT empires and it was empires that had the varied economic base to improve everyone's life in time. Do you think within each city-state all was peaches and cream, liberty and justice for all? Do you think other's wouldn't have loved to do what the Assyrians managed to do so well? Why is it so important to you to damn the Assyrians with a Jewish curse? It was by mixing populations and ideas that humanity sifted the garbage from the useful, the backward from the forward-looking...those rebelling against Assyrian rule weren't striking a blow for freedom, for local potentates abused their people freely without giving them the benefits that came from empire. The only evidence for your claim comes from a source that is about as biased and downright silly as can be imagined... --------------------- |
