Why, because the bible says so? Actually the Hebrews were the bloodiest people around...No sooner did half of them find yeahwe than they turned their swords on the other half..pregnant women as well, ripping their wombs open. > *** yeah those hebrew people were a bit strange they killed for stupid reasons >...why is it so important to sidestep the more relevant issue, which is that Christianity is killing us TODAY, to go back 3000 years to slam the Assyrians? Why must you addd your voice to their detractors rather than be among the few champions those people have? If I say the local Christians in your town are bloody...will you remind that your grandparents were "just as bad"? Do you attack the reputation of your own children FIRST...whenever some points out the neighbor children are awful? > *** i guess christians are doing a lot of killings today but hey we killed too we werent just weak little men that got other people to kill for us, we were warriors who united a whole area to create a empire >...how often in the bible does it say people were wiped out for "turning against the Lord"? Which simply meant they wanted to live life in their own way? Sunkherib forgave the Babylonians twice for their rebellions...and a rebellion was a dangerous and costly affair back then...he didn't forgive them for having foreskins, or cutting them off...for their sexual practises or because Ashur was grumpy that morning...he forgave them for the kinds of ACTS the Hebrews would have killed every man, woman, child and gold fish for...he became "bloody" the third time they rebelled...killing his son and heir. > *** You keep mentioning how bad the hebrews were but in the end the hebrew people came from assyria they claim to be from lower mesopotamian thats were they trace their heritage to >...contrast that with the Holocaust...which didn't happen 3000 years ago, brought on by Pagans, people without the benefit of 2000 years of Christ's "teachings"...it happened SIXTY years ago. What crime had six million Jewish people committed? What crime had the Chzechs committed?...the Poles?...the Russians?...the French?...the British?...millions upon millions of people were killed between the years 1914-1944...that's barely THIRTY YEARS! > *** thats what war does - kills innocent people. i like to view these murders on different people by the percentage of population killed not the number. To kill 80000 japanese all u need to do is send a one plane to drop one bomb in a city but to kill 80000 assyrian villagers u need to send an army to travel from one village to another which is a lot harder to do. THat brings me to wondered why an empire would go out of its way soo much to kill villages and simple farmers. >The Assyrians skinned alive the leaders of rebellions...people who caused real and actual suffering for all. Of course there were wars back then...imagine where things would be today if each sity-state had remained as it was...separate and apart from its neighbors...without those ancient empires nothing could have moved or developed beyond a primitive stage...those wars BUILT empires and it was empires that had the varied economic base to improve everyone's life in time. Do you think within each city-state all was peaches and cream, liberty and justice for all? Do you think other's wouldn't have loved to do what the Assyrians managed to do so well? Why is it so important to you to damn the Assyrians with a Jewish curse? > *** Yeah assyrians were a lot smarter than the leaders of today - why go kill innocent people, kill the leader and the people will join the empire that way both the people and the empire benefit. i would never think of damning assyrians with the jewish curse of circumcision - poor jews >It was by mixing populations and ideas that humanity sifted the garbage from the useful, the backward from the forward-looking...those rebelling against Assyrian rule weren't striking a blow for freedom, for local potentates abused their people freely without giving them the benefits that came from empire. > >The only evidence for your claim comes from a source that is about as biased and downright silly as can be imagined... *** hey its not silly at all. My claim came from those great assyrian stories, the images of those great assyrian warriors on those stone walls. No empire at the time was as powerful as the assyrians and to unify an empire such as the assyrian empire certainly we had to destroy and kill rebellion armies who refused to part of the empire. I ask u to take a look at these stories carved into the stone of the wars which the assyrians took part in. Certianly the assyrians were one of the bloodiest for we had to kill those that were a threat the empire, and we werent killed because we were the powerful assyrians. As for those hebrews they were killing themselves for weird things, afterall it was their father who almost killed his own son so whos to blame them if thats what they were taught thats wat they will do. --------------------- |
