Paul's "explanaion" goes the same way as the rest of it. He tells us aboout Constantine...we knew that...he tells us the Western Church was murder happy in its zeal to maintain Roman control through Peter's Pence and a host of modified methods of raping people...and then he mentions as fact his own church's propaganda...by merely saying..."and then the apostles went out and everyone fell at their feet and worshipped Jesus for fun...." is NOT any kind of evidence. He rightly pokes fun at the incident of Milvan Bridge when Constantine claims to have seen Jesus telling him how to kill people...but then commits the same error, though minus the warlike business, by telling us that Saint somebody or other saw Jesus in the sky and people fell down of their own accord...both claims are "historical" in the sense that you can go back to a historical source that MENTIONS them...but that isn't HISTORY...the incidents claimed as fact NEVER happened. If you repeat a lie for centuries it doesn't become historically true...it doesn't mean it ever happened. Paul will make fun of Constantine's claim....but he believes St Gregory's....why? Why, in hevvin's name believe ONE idiocy and refuse to believe the other one, when BOTH of them are merely fantastic CLAIMS? Is it because one lie is a peaceful lie and the other involves violence? That's nice and all...except it doesn't make either of them true...when on the face of it BOTH are as ridiculous as can be. There is STILL no plausible explanation provided for the claim that ANY cultured people would throw away their own cutlure and most dear religion and the gods they lived and died under for ANYTHING from ANYWHERE. Instead of addressing this...Paul brings me saints who SAY it happened...and the band plays on... --------------------- |
