...think of the poor bastards...the bosses I mean. They look out over the world and see Christianity established in numerous wealthy countries of the West..latecomers and whippersnappers though they are...churches who haven't the advantage or prestige of being the "first" or REAL ones...yet they have magnificent catherdrals, treasures, war chests, banks, media conglomerates...they once toppled governments, burned anyone they wanted to and made emperors bow before them.

Though the eastern church, so close to the birthplace of Jesus, had the head-start, they are today as nothing compared to the majesty and power and wealth and influence of the church in the west. A good instance of attractive force of the western religions is the success western missionaries had in converting Christians in Urmia and elsewhere to THEIR brand of Christ. Why? How is it they managed to do that? Because they offered better goodies than the poorer church of the east could. Right in their OWN turf, the church of the east couldn't hold onto its own people...how embarrassing for them all and their claims of being the TRUE church. And no wonder the ancient grudge match between Monophysites and Nestorians became even more entangled and bitter with these new additions...who are still rending the air we're trying to breathe.

How is it, how does it look, when people at the other ends of the earth were "brought" to Christianity while the church nearest to Christ's own homeland are constantly losing members and standing? Why didn't this oldest of churches manage to do the same, or better? What does this say about the power and natural fit of Christianity? Why did Islam sweep the region...why did Islam build an empire that once dominated the west? Why did Islam have riches and power and capture the hearts and imaginations of the people of the land of Jesus...as well as spread to other parts of the world?

We know, of course, how Christianity was "spread"...through murder, war, forced conversions...by wiping out the older cultures, making people's customs illegal but mostly by "educating" the orphans left over to love the religion that killed their parents and wiped out their ancestral ways.

Since this history is well known, though not commented upon...the eastern church seized on this to explain the spread of Islam...it MUST have been done the same way Christianity triumphed where it did...through FORCE.

Neither church, east nor west wants to emphasize the method by which Christianity covered half the world...but rather seek to distract from it by saying it is Islam that did what Christianity did, in the west...still and anyway you contemplate it, it looks bad for this "wonderful" message of Jesus that in half the world people had to be killed into it, while in the other half they remained indifferent. And that message isn't about love and kindness and charity, those were alive and well everywhere before Jesus and since, in places that wanted no part of him, instead the message is that you can ride to heaven on the corpse of a dead Jew...noshing on his flesh and blood as you go.

The bosses of the church, both east and west are liars...consummate businessmen too who understand how a franchise works and how you need pay the bills...someone like Father Benny is a truly sainted man...but Benny won't ever be placed in a position where he controls the bank account...never.

And so the myth was born that while everyone in the east dropped their drawers for Jesus...often the mere telling of his life's story by ONE wandering Jew being enough to get people to dump their ancient cultures, the ones their parents died in and their children were born in...they aren't anywhere to be found these days because Islam KILLED THEM ALL...by the "millions and millions" it killed them.

...there were as many "millions of Christians" in the Mideast as there are authentic thumbs of John the Baptist on display and revered throughout Christendom at various magnificent temples to mendacity...16 to be exact and all from the right hand!!!

What else can they say? Can they tell the truth? That the message of Christ is for slaves and people so beaten down that they've resigned themselves to spinning on their cheeks? Can they admit that the only reason this "wonderful" message survived at all is because the most ruthless people of that day saw the practical benefit in it...saw they could use it to MAKE slaves out of freeborn children?

Though one shouldn't have to say the obvious...let it be remembered that the message is not of love, or kindness, gentleness or charity...those were alive and well everywhere long before Jesus came along...the message of Jesus is that you TAKE what Power dishes out...that you "win" by not resisting...and since that causes hatred to grow in one's heart...hatred not only of the opressor but of your own mealy mouthed self...he is said to have meant you should "forgive" your enemies...no one has EVER forgiven their enemy or the enemy of their children or ever will, ask the Iraqis..it is pure hokum and hog wash. You should indeed forgive and understand those who harm you unwittingly...without malice aforethought...but who has EVER forgiven the person who delights in deliberately blinding their child?

Christ's message is that his philosophy of acceptance of the deliberate cruelty and opression of other's, mostly your own leaders'...is your ticket to paradise...makes you bigger and better than he who stomps your child's face.

Wullah, the Romans knew a good line when they stumbled over it. One that was distilled from the misery of the people they subjugated. No free-born person allowed to develop their wits without bugaboos and fear would EVER consent to get to a paradise by committing two of the most cursed and abhorrent practises we have ever known...feeding on human flesh and washing it down with blood.

Meat so good it melts in your mouth.
