...realizing that it's hopeless to decide on one name from within the community, I took the liberty some months ago of writing to several experts outside our community. I laid all the facts in front them, being careful not to give my own ideas for fear of swaying them unfairly. After much deliberation on their part I received a letter yesterday from the chairman of their committee...mind you these are all tenured professors in a variety of fields...all of them at major institutions of advanced learning. The letter had the usual salutations in it with, at the bottom, the name they'd finally decided would best typify our people. it read: "DAMFOOLS". ...don't shoot the messenger...shoot Aprim instead. --------------------- |
