A lot of talk about Jesus and Christian morals these days. The more rational experts claim that Faith and Fact are two different things..that the bible is not meant to be taken literally and you can be wise, rational and logical and STILL be "spiritual". I agree...any intelligent Being realizes that there's a lot more to this planet than what meets the eye...and being wise and intelligent knows wnough to know he or she can never hope to understand it with such a puny mind as we have...as Socrates said, "the more I know the more I know I don't know". Only a fool pretends to explain First Beginnings etc. It's like accepting a painted landscape on a window as the best approximation of the views that exist beyond. Of course there's a deep spiritual aspect to existence and just as certain there isn't a Baptist preacher, pedophilic priest or humping evangelical who has the faintest notion of these things. The cheap carnival trick they make of divinity and morality is a fool's attempt to answer any old way he can what scares him too much to leave in its proper place. If you laugh your fool head off at the bible and Judo-Christianity, to take just one painted window, it doesn't mean you think you know it all...you just know THEY don't know any of it. They claim an exclusive on spirituality..like if you reject their nonsense you therefore have NO sense of wonder at abundant Life all around you and what might lie beyond. Bullshit. It's almost axiomatic: if you believe the bible you cannot be Human. What makes us essentially and uniquely human is our capacity for Reason. We can't run like the horse or fly like the birds or dive like the fishes...take any one of these characteristics from the appropriate life-form and you cripple its existence and take away its distinguishing characteristic that sets it apart from all other Life and reduces it to a mere shadow of itself. Likewise with us...the one thing we have that sets us apart is Reason..and it's the ONE thing the church fears most...if you give up on or stifle or hamper or make Evil the human capacity to look behind things, to ask questions...not seek answers necessarily but ask better questions, you make a monster, an unnatural thing out of Humans, because you rob them of their one distinctive feature...the very thing that makes us Human...and that's what religion, especially this Judo/Christian/Muslim stuff has done to children...which is the reason we're fouling our own nest...risking our planet...attempting to go in directions that bring us to the brink of wiping out Human Life...because we fear what is the essential core of our Humanity..our Reason. ...so what. --------------------- |
