...she has something to do with this group...and this is written in her florid hand...in excellent English. It's all bullshit of course but it's EXPENSIVE bullshit.

...only a fool would call what they've gone through "survival"...and their resiliance you can find more of in a rubber band...their lack of persistance is well known and their strength just as watery. They have no unified culture, just the opposite...and the entire culture consists of religious sects flavored by the countries they lived in. And I defy anyone to point to an example of tolerance in any of them...the only part that rings true is the last..they are indeed opportunists.

Besides which the entire bit of hokem ignores those who chose to remain in BetNahrain...who did not run to the West to become Westernized...they have their own values and would have prefered to go right on believing them...putting up with whatever drove Jackie out in return for actually living in their "beloved homeland"..and not coming to the West to learn duplicity, shysterism, unbridled consumerism and pre-emptive war based on lies and waged against the innocent people they left behind.

Jackie is a master of lies and deceit...but GOOD ones. She used to slam Narsai to me every time we spoke...she said there were Assyrians "suffering" all over the world and focusing only on those inside Iraq was a mistake. That was when she was sharpening her claws for Father Benny...who is handsome, extrememly talented and an extreme challenge. I met him at her house and went with her to his parents home on a few occaisions. I have no doubt her constant reference to his good looks, to his face...and how it was a shame he wasn't in America, where she could marry him off plus other comments such as these made him uncomfortable...I know they made me squirm. Benny is the REAL thing...I despise his profession but I recognize the sincerity of the man...these sorts of jokes were totally misplaced...there are plenty of holy men you can joke this way with...but not Benny...the man burns with true zeal.

I always suspected Jackie's "devotion" to the Assyrians of Georgia owed everything to Benny's good looks and the challenge he posed for her...how to compromise him...that was her game. I don't mean she wanted to bed the guy...but she definitely enjoyed making him uncomfortable and there agin, money was her trump card. Benny was of course grateful to her for her "help"...but he's no dummy...I'm sure he recognized that she was trying to buy him as well...to make him grateful to her, personally...to have a kind of power over him..almost as a man would do....dangling money for food over the head of an attractive mother who's worried sick for her children...watching to see how grateful she will become.

And then one day...she was through with Benny and the "poor people" of Georgia...next thing I knew she was in Modesto and breathlessly telling me how the Whacki Rabbi from Iraqi had told her over breakfast that she was to be his eyes and ears in America...listening to her gush all over HIM as she'd gushed over Benny and me and countless other "marks". And sure enough...her checkbook followed her heart...she began giving time and money to Garbia...because Iraq was where the NEXT handsome man was from. I heard she actually whanged him...doesn't matter if she did or didn't...her game is making it LOOK and FEEL like she wants you to bump your uglies on her...it's her form of kicks and politics, all rolled into one bitch. I'm not bitter either...I owe her a lot...actually, several. She is a very talented, highly intelligent and well heeled slut. The fact that she chooses to play this part and may not really be like this is hardly a virtue. Let's all try to be real.
