Iraqis in U.S. Won't Vote on Constitution

Washington, Aug. 2 -- The Iraqi Electoral Commission will not allow Iraqi expatriates to vote on a new constitution, effectively locking out a quarter-million votes from mostly religious minorities living in the United States, Britain and other countries.

...are you surprised? Why the hell would a country allow those who ran away to vote on what affects those who STAYED? Firas explained how his parents left because they felt the country would be too dangerous for their darling...why should such people get a voice? Was it ONLY dangerous for them? Must people be rewarded for RUNNING now as well?

...Hey Firas...why don't you tell the Mayor of Telfaif to tell the Muslims who made this decision that they are denying someone their minotity rights? Do you see any hope that will work? Put your rosiest glasses on and see what YOU see.

Firas: You have shut down our only Christian forum in Iraq...we have many subscribers...I realize we are a minority and our views on what we deserve and what you bastards did to us are not popular with the Kurds, Sunni and your own people...but don't you think your democracy should uphold the rights of minorities, even unpopular ones?

Minister: I am SO sorry but my hands are tied. I simply have no time to defend you people any longer...I have received several complaints and so I'm afraid we had to shut you down....

Firas: But, what about human rights...what about free speech, even if it is uncomfortable or unpopular speech?

Minister: I'm sorry. Surely you realize we are trying to build a new country here...perhaps some day...for now, why don't you return to America and start a forum...I am sure you will have no difficulty guaranteeing unpopular views from "complaints" there.
