...over on zindalite someone is praising Aprim`s book...it`s Aprim. Then someone else is praising it and it`s not Aprim...here`s a muddled comment from a muddled article about a muddled "book" in which Aprim peoooves what he`s always believed anyway... "Somewhere about the end of his book Frederick aptly includes a quote by Dr. Arian Ishaya who exposes the political games played by some who consider it a sport to question the identity of the contemporary Assyrians. She writes: “Assyrians call themselves Assyrian for a very simple and convincing reason: they are age-old inhabitants of ancient Assyria. That is their homeland. They have churches there that date as far back as third and fourth centuries AD. ...GOTCHA! Unconsciously the writer betrays the very root and rot of this argument. Unable to rest after making the sweeping atatement that we are Assyrians because "we have always been Assyrians" and, thinking to clinch it, she points out to the one verifiable fact all these lunkheads rest their nonsense on..there were CHURCHES there from the early centuries. Now what, in the name of all that`s rational, is a refernce to Jewish churches doing in an argument meant to prove there have always been Assyrians in BetNahrain? This is the point none of them can get beyond..they just stare at you and blink...like how can you NOT understand how being Christian PROOOOVES you are Assyrian? ..she continues... "That is sufficient and says it all. There is no need to engage in the inconclusive argument of racial and cultural purity. Palestinians say they are Palestinian because their forefathers inhabited Palestine and the French say France is their homeland because they have lived there for many centuries. One claim is as valid as the other. What makes the French claim more respectable and that of the Palestinians questionable, is not science, it is politics-pure and simple.” ..it is not politics...it is not pure and simple at all...but it IS common Reason. Palestinians are Christian and Jew as well as Muslim...the French too can be of any religious affiliation or none at all and NO ONE dares call into question their Frenchness. This is where the Assyrian argument breaks down every time...because to be Assyrian, validly Assyrian by some jackasses measure, you MUST be Christian..or forget it. Being French or Palestinian is nowhere dependent on religion...with us it is EVERYTHING. The ethnic group these fools should be comparing us to are the Jews..and try switching from Judaism, the religion of their ancient people when there was an Assyria...to Christianity or Islam and claiming you are even MORE of a Jew...for being a Christian...come again? We gave up on the one thing that MADE us Assyrian...our own religion and culture and heritage and instead adopted a neo-Jewish religion and in time culture and heritage...eveything we refer to as "Assyrian" is in reality Christian..which is another way of saying Jewish...even the language is proudly refered to, not as the language of Ashur, but as the language of a JEW...Jesus, the Jew. The only evidence there can be for being Assyrian is DOING Assyrian things..things aimed at protecting and enhancing the heritage and homeland and people of that region...and the first thing that has to be got rid of is the notion that only one religion can be the right religion for Assyrians..that was true when the religion WAS Assyrian..but since then Assyrians too can be of any religion...and they can act as much "Assyrian" or "Iraqi" as they want...the one thing for certain sure that disqualifies a person, even a person from Iraq, from claiming to be any kind of an Assyrian is supporting this murderous and illegal war against a soverign nation called Iraq. These Christian dogs who`ve done this in hopes of "getting what they deserve" have gotten EXACTLY what they deserved...only they made others suffer the consequences..because, you see, these "Assyrians" are SO Assyrian they ran out long ago. My arse! --------------------- |
