...the one thing that distinguishes us from other beasts is our rational mind. Reason, the ability to imagine and image a future that does yet exist is something unique to Human Beans...yet it`s the one thing that religions despise and seek to cripple as if their lives depended on it...ahem. You`d think humans could only come to god driven in as a herd of cattle. Rather than rely on and develop this singular characteristic, religions opt instead for terror from which they offer relief...training the child as if he or she were something dangerous or ill-formed who, without constant and determined watchfullnes would "get away" from them. And when you suggest the whole thing should just be dropped...they reply that to leave these adults now without "moral guidance" would be a disaster...they neglect to mention that they have crippled them first and now are "worried" lest they trip and fall. It`s a little like asking what distinguishes a brain surgeon from a taxi driver...then choosing that ONE quality or trait and deeming it a DANGER and something the person would be better off without. What kind of medicine would you be left with then..or any sort of anything if you systematically wiped out the one distinguishing feature of every single human bean...you`d have the church today and the mess this god-business has made of us and our planet. --------------------- |
