It’s a mistake to think that the Christians of Iraq, in their Assyrian disguise, want a separate country, or that any but the refugees who fled to there after the Great War had such notions. With no experience in running much of anything and a good example of what a religious minority can expect that has a Western nation steal a “homeland” for it, as the Israelis who were literally forced, at the point of a Nazi gun and the threat of gas chambers to “settle” in Palestine have discovered…our people know without being told what a disaster it would be for them to be herded into an enclosure called a “Nineveh Plain” or whatever name they choose. Clearly we have many people who, regardless of hardships and the lure of the West, have always maintained a preference for remaining where they are and who found it not difficult at all to live side by side with their Muslim brothers and sisters. Too readily have our people believed that they were persecuted for being Christians, repeating stories of jailed or murdered nationalists as if they hadn’t committed serious crimes such as treason, collaboration and sedition but innocently demanded “their rights”. In order to make these stories more plausible, lists of so-called massacres and persecutions, forced conversions etc. were manufactured and passed round among credulous villagers to eager-to-believe peasants and slum-dwellers who felt these were the real reason they hadn’t amounted to much. The poor educational level attained by these nationalists left them completely ignorant of the true condition of people in all nations who have suffered far more than they…leading them in their ignorance of world events and political realities to believe their situation was unique and would come as a shock to a world well past the stage of caring about a Semele or two. The world’s indifference or failure to take action to protect them(from their own follies) was reinterpreted to show that agents were working against them, spying on them and exerting all kinds of pressure to keep them from uniting…as if from their unity would come some tremendous feats which would disrupt the universe. The events which finally left no option for European Jews but to leave their homes in Vienna, Berlin, Warsaw and many other of the refined cities of Europe to start all over in the wasteland that Haifa was in the 1940s, and earlier, were of so brutal and inhumane a kind that only Christians could inflict self-righteously on anyone, in this case on the Jews. The situation was hardly similar to the peace and security Christians and Jews both experienced at the hands of Muslims. Jews had little choice but to run screaming from their homes among Christians, while our Christians had every reason to stay where they were and are only leaving today as a result of foreign Christian war and disruption…driven out not by their Muslim neighbors but by the conditions of a war brought illegally to Iraq in which everyone, Muslim and Christian and everyone else is suffering tremendously due only to the brutal destruction of all law and order and restraint which any country experiences during a civil war…made that much worse by the presence of foreigners who have carte blanch to kill anyone and everyone. There is no need for an Assyria and there never was. That’s not to say an Assyria couldn’t have been created at any time and taken its place among all other nations that have been created through violence…as Israel and now Kurdistan have…but it never happened, due to the fact that there was never any dire need to undertake the hardship. If life in the MidEast proved too much there were several Christians nations willing to accept our people (a option denied Jews and rejected by them after the death camps of the Second World War)…at least that’s the conclusion to be drawn since our people never seriously saw the need or took the slightest steps…I mean real ones and not the kinds we see today when a secretary in Turlock suggests our people in Iraq take up arms and FIGHT…while she eats sushi in Modesto. Any agitation in the past within Iraq for such a thing led quickly to prosecution, as it would have in any country. Iraq broke no laws nor violated any morality when it arrested and tried and if need be executed anyone preaching or practicing sedition…as every government of every country has reserved the right to do….ask the United States which came down heavily on Native Americans who dared such a thing in the 1970s, murdering several leaders in cold blood for merely “demanding their rights”. There’s simply no case to be made that Iraq “persecuted” anybody for their Christian religion or, god help us, because they were “Assyrian”. The law in Iraq punished people, any people, who betrayed the country, collaborated with its enemies or participated in seditious acts and speech. The attempt to turn this around into a case of religious persecution has only succeeded among the most ignorant of the ignorant, of which we have more than our fair share. Having seen our nationalists in action (though that’s a misleading term) for fifteen years now I’m convinced most if not all of them were formerly members of home-grown communist parties…they dress badly enough and argue in the same detestable ways. Only small-time communists thought to gain power by whining and wheezing. They all seem to have been taught the same nasty maneuvers in a basement in Prague or East Berlin during the 70s. There was no ideology in them greater than the person outside wanting to be inside…the one without much wanting to get much….and since we see they still don’t know how to actually GET much of anything, except by whining and lying and wailing, we know their training was complete…and futile. They just like the sounds they make and the more often they fail, if you can call doing nothing “trying” anything, the more they see themselves all the more heroic and romantic for going up against insurmountable odds…when the real obstacles in their path are nothing more than their own poor abilities and lack of common sense. The cause they wish people to rally round is bogus and can only be maintained by a serious mangling of the truth…this sort of “activism” does not inspire serious people who might be capable of serious things…instead it attracts ne-er do wells, idle dreamers and most often pity-seeking and self-proclaimed “martyrs” who think to bask in the “world’s interest”. They were never persecuted but saw great benefits from having a persecution COMPLEX…it won them pity which is all the action they’ve ever engaged in. No one need take them seriously…they know no one does and to smooth over the neglect and boredom they inspire have let it be known that Turks, Arabs and Kurds are AFRAID of them…so afraid that they live in constant fear that these dweebs will UNITE and then, “Watch Out”!!! Not only are the usual suspects trembling in fear of what will happen when “Assyrians UNITE”…..and make those terrible DEMANDS…which the WORLD will be shocked to hear they have been DENIED….but America too, catching this fear, has paid for and trained Dr Joseph to work AGAINST them…by buying him a degree from Princeton, getting him a job at a university where he could “spread his lies” to college students, and also publish lying books aimed at scholars and upper division students, all for the purpose of keeping Assyrians from UNITING…so terrible will they be if this ever happens!!! You have to be seriously challenged to take any of this seriously. Our nationalists live by fantasy, fable and lies…gross exaggeration is their “politics”. They haven’t been persecuted…they aren’t descended from any ancient Assyrians, they aren’t feared by anybody and none of them who live in Iraq wanted anything more than to live in Iraq but free from the rapacity of the West…they didn’t even want to GO to the West and even now would remain in Iraq if the foreign Christian nations attacking their homeland would leave. The vast majority of our people are content to remain in the West or in the MidEast…even our nationalists have no desire to go back, under any circumstances. The only lure Iraq presents now is the chance to buy cheap and sell dear some day. It’s a time for speculators and carpetbaggers who might as well use “love of Assyria” as a front…merely one more of several which has left them with nothing of substance behind their Assyrian mask.. --------------------- |
