...we used to make fun of people like Khashoggi and other gun-merchants...but that's our major export; weapons. And there's a lot of money in guns, and guns at home too...that's why there's so much invested in keeping alive the illusion that we live in the old Frontier days...that we have guns to keep away the bad guys and critters and having guns MEANS freedom.... After a long, windy, article, most likely by an NRA AND CIA operative/reporter, the fellow ends like this... "It is also unreasonable to expect that we would begin a campaign to round up all the guns or all the potentially dangerous people who might have access to guns. Mass murder is regrettably one of the painful consequences of the freedoms we enjoy." ...it is? More people are killed by their fellow citizens, packing guns, than were killed in 9/11 EACH YEAR! How come we turned ourselves inside out trying to "secure" ourselves from that sort of thing? How come incidents like 9/11 aren't written off as "...one of the painful consequences of the freedoms we enjoy"? How come we had to gut the Constitution, install X-rays, strip search old women, put up surveilance cameras all over, read people's emails and listen in on phone conversations...how come we acted like THAT could be secured against...but not this? Is it because even more money was to be made securing against another 9/11...and money would be LOST banning firearms? Is THAT what our freedoms amount to; the freedom to MAKE MONEY???? --------------------- |
