...just heard that line in an old Argentinian film about the Disappeared...and it rings true of assyrian claims that they are descended from the ancients. How could that be when they had absolutely no memory of that history? All the Nestorians knew of the ancient Assyrians is what the Jews told them in their bible....that's all and it hardly covers one-tenth of one-hundredth of one-ten-thousandth part of what the real history of Assyria was. Nestorians knew nothing of cuneiform, knew nothing of the stories on the thousands of tablets recovered by Euros...nothing of all the kings NOT mentioned in the bible, nothing of Gilgamesh, of Enkheduana of the Enumma Elish, nothing, nothing, nothing....nothing. They had forgotten the Akkadian language those tablets were written in long long ago...if Euros hadn't dug them up and figured out how to translate them, today Aprim would know no more of the Assyrians than what he reads in the Torah....that's all. A people's memory is their history....our memory has been all Christian for over a thousand years, with no detailed or specialized or even personal knowledge of the ancient Assyrians...nothing but what Euros have fed us. ...we forgot the Assyrian language....and then we forgot the history written in THAT language....we tell out children today, "do not forget your language(meaning modern Aramaic) or you forget who you are"......exactly....and it happened long long ago when we forgot out REAL language....and then forgot who we had been...if there is any truth to this nonsense at all. --------------------- |
