This headline caught my eye this morning... "Democracy can thrive in Africa".....from an article about a documentary film by an African who returns after years in the West to film an election in which the people chant, "we want peace"...very affecting. Then I remembered another title, "Obama send 100 troops to Africa"...what can a bare one hundred do, right? Well, they can get the ball rolling. Africa is the last continent on earth with enough people to run factories for the West. I always believed that day would come when Mexico and China and Korea and Vietnam and Malaysia became unprofitable...when Africans began to look like they would be glad to work for fifty cents an hour just to have jobs and of course "democracy". Africans are dispirited and traumatized by a couple of hundred years of Western meddling and theft and murder that they'll be glad for anything we do to "save" them. --------------------- |
