...Aprim is supremely unaware of himself...of what a figure he cuts. I love it when he engages for a round or two in some discussion and always ends by saying, "this is the last thing I have to say on this subject". he sees it as a statement made by someone who's just made the definitive point, beyond which there is nothing more to say. But those of us who know this pointy-headed Hysterian know it to be quite the opposite. Aprim continually declares he has "nothing more to say" on a subject in contention because HE has nothing more to say...after his first volley, followed up by a whimper or two...or a warning that he will clarify things in his "next book"...Aprim declares a victory and retires from the field... If you'll notice though he only bothers to get into it with those who have even less to say than he does. Between them they really say nothing at all and leave the discussion as rambling and pointless as when they first took it up. I think of Aprim as comic relief...his posturing and pompous preening is precious...a real gift to us all...and that's all I have to say on the matter. --------------------- |
