I met Amy twice, when she was on book tours in Detroit. She would get up to the Microphone and speak about her book, and then do a book signing afterward. Both times, I bought 7 or 8 of her books, so I could give them to my friends and family, and she was very thankful. I told her, with a straight face, that I love her program (Democracy Now), but that it scares me and depresses me. She paused for a moment, and I added that I was sorry, that I meant what I said as a compliment. I told her that in my estimation, Democracy Now reports the ACTUAL NEWS, and that it's as close to the truth as you can get with the lack of actual journalism these days, and I said "please take it as a compliment". I guess I'm not the best at expressing my sincere gratitude. She is such a wonderful person! She's risked her life overseas reporting in east Asia on conflicts, was almost gunned down by dictatorship troops, etc. --------------------- |
