The guy is obviously not dum ...what guy? he reads and knows history ....Who is "he"?...WHICH history...written by whom? Don't just SAY things...back them up. Had you ever taken serious classes you would know that teachers would demand just that...SOURCES and in direct QUOTATIONS...you still leave us having to take your word, your opinion, for everything you state...this won't do. he analyzes things well ..what things? Who is "he"? Where is this analysis so we can see for ourselves? You see your problem..all you assyrians? You're used to meetings in halls where Rukhtapoulitous gets up and gives a "speech" designed to warm your pubic hairs..you all get excited and warm and fuzzy and think "this guy really knows his STUFF", when all you mean is that you LIKE what he says. We ask more of you and ourselves. and thats why i cant buy the shit your writing ...I posted a quote from Gibbon...those are HIS writings not mine...Rashad did the same with quotes from Juan Cole...these are recognized and acknowledged experts in their fields, though no one at an assyrian club ever heard of them...you can ignore all MY comments...just bring your own actual and real historians and give us THEIR words expanding on OUR historians or proving them wrong...this isn't about what I write, it's about what I bring here from the writings of HISTORIANS....try to do the same. your what 50-60 years old and for the last 5 years you came to the conclusion that your not Assyrian and that its all fake? ...yes but I didn't do that on my own...I came to that conclusion as a result of reading the books and articles of one of our own, a man we should all be proud of but can't stand because he tells us unpleasant truths..this man is Dr. John Joseph, a PhD from Princeton University with a doctorate in Modern Middle Eastern History, a time when we all of a sudden appeared on the scene...he is retired now after teaching at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster Pennsylvania...he has had two books PUBLISHED, not self-printed, by Princeton University Press and re-published by Brill, a four hundred year-old publisher in the Netherlands with offices in London and Toronto....in addition he is Professor Emeritus, an honorary title which allows him to use all college facilities for research etc. and a new International Studies Building was constructed on the campus of this very old and prestigious college bearing his own name, the funds for which were donated by the last CEO of Reynolds Tobacco, a former student of his who said, at the dedication, that Dr. Joseph was the first teacher to show him how to think...not WHAT to think but how. You might want to dwell on that last line a little where your own mental processes are concerned. In his book he researches the origins of this myth, also does the same for the Chaldeans, and through quotes, research of others and other sources shows just how we were fooled into fooling ourselves...his publishers thoroughly vetted his manuscript, submitting it to a board of experts for review(this NEVER happens with the "books" assyrians spit out). Unfortunately, you will never read his book and hence remain "happy" but ignorant. Im sure you came across the arguments your now using against all christians and all Assyrians before but did you chose to ignore them before for the sake of the Assyrian cause or to sell statues or what? ...no, I came to them a few years back. Dr Joseph is married to a cousin and I have been in contact with him over the years..he is now in his 90s but still writing...he reminded me recently that he met me at just the time we began gathering funds for the Ashurbanipal Monument back in the 80s and said he tried, gently, to open my eyes, but I was full of myself then and full of IT....sure, I lost sales and gained threats when I realized the truth, and spoke out, just as Dr Joseph has been cursed and threatened for decades, which is how this "proud and strong" community reacts to knowledge and truths. Had I been and thought like you I would have kept my mouth shut to make more SALES. In my years of making Assyrian sculpture I have made more than a million dollars in sales....you don't think I would have liked to keep on selling? See, I like the truth more....education can do that to you. Dont take this the wrong way but i think i read that you have children how do you deal with the Assyrian issue when you talk with them do you say to them that from now on we are not Assyrians because i was wrong about our heritage or do you call yourself arab? ...first off I have no problem being an Arab, if I was one. It isn't any kind of insult as far as I'm concerned. I was born Iraqi into a Christian family that believed we were assyrians, but the religion never took. I told my children the truth, what else should I do? I said we were mistaken and showed them how it came to be...I told them that no doubt there is Assyrian and Chaldean and Babylonian genetic material floating around the MidEast and the entire world for that matter, but that we share that with Muslims and so many other people, but that we are not direct descendants of the ancient Assyrians, that is absurd. What we call assyrian "heritage" is in reality all Christian heritage...like the Church of the East, which added the word "Assyrian" to its name in 1976, we did the same only back in the 19th century. I raised my five children to value the truth, to not dress themselves in borrowed clothing, living off the achievements of others but to go out in the world and make their own mark...they have no problem with it. ...we don't speak Akkadian, which is the actual language of the ancients, but Aramaic, which everyone came to use back then...we don;t have an assyrian religion but a Jewish one...we know nothing of what real Assyrian traditions are, to us Christmas is an "assyrian" holiday, so is Easter...we merely tacked on "Assyrian" to our Christian heritage. Because of your intelligence you lose your credibility ...with people like you, of course. Anyone would who said what you didn't like....wouldn't matter how accomplished that person was, in THIS field, you would in the end call him a traitor, an Arab-lover and the rest of it. Aren't you even a little bit ashamed? im sure you could argue the opposite side as well as the one your now choosing if you like ...again, you miss the point. All you have ever known is people with "opinions" or "arguments", so to you I have one "opinion" and you have another, and since BOTH are just opinions, then yours is as good as mine...which could be the reason you keep avoiding the issue, which is not MY words or YOUR opinions, not even the statements of "professors", but the actual words and writings of real historians, the better the better....and so, I ask you again; bring us the actual WRITINGS of real Historians, as we have brought, and let us all examine them...enough with the my words and your words, give us THEIR words. so therefore i cant take what you write serious. I mean you talk the talk but do you walk the walk ...again, ignore all my writings...you're right, I am a fool and an idiot, whatever...but the historians I bring are NOT! bring us YOUR historians. Sadly, we already know what to think of you. --------------------- |
