I can understand eating human flesh if you're starving and there's nothing better to eat, or nothing at all. I can't imagine anyone prefering human flesh to other available foods...so, on that basis, it isn't all that shocking. But what remains incredible is that a religion of "love" would choose such a ritual from among all the "symbols", if we agree that's all it was, that are available. It would be like choosing pederasty or child sodomoy to be "symbollic" of love. Sick any way you look at it.... That's the difficulty with the Eucharist. The Bible, Jesus, the Gospels and Church oficials make it clear that they're talking about real flesh and blood...in fact, if a Christian refused the "real presence" of Christ's flesh and blood he was once excommunicated, at the least....boiled in oil or burned at the stake was more common. It hardly lessens the horror, or the psychological damage to children to tell them the Church is "only kiding". --------------------- |
