...outraged at Miller Brewing Co the Chaledeans boycotted their beers. They could have "voted" for a "representative" to go to Washington and try to get 400 other people to agree with him and pass legislation against what Miller did in sponsoring a Gay Pride event which offended Chaldeans...but they didn't bother...because they understand business.... Miller Brewing Co, which sells around the world and is filthy rich can't afford to lose a SINGLE sale...because there's never such a thing as enough profit...neither can any company afford to remain at the previous year's profit margin....business, like a tumor, has to never stop growing...The company could easily have absorbed any loss in Detroit and San Diego...but then again they really can't. It shows the power of boycotts over our silly fixation with voting...when the ballot was touted as being the way to democracy, Capitalism didn't exist..the Stock Market also didn't exist. Perhaps the vote once meant something...but threatening to cut the profits of any company by even a miniscule amount gets better results. These corporations, maybe not Miller exactly, but most of them are buying up our politicians...in more and more cases they are the ones writing our laws and regulations..and all to suit themselves. They've created a huge advantage for themselves. with our money, and can frustrate the will of the people easily...you can vote for whichever candidate they paid more money for...and it doesn't matter if its Republican or Democrat because they buy BOTH sides...so they'll win no matter who wins...or, you can hit them where it hurts...in their bottom line. Time and again we've seen examples of how effective this approach can be..as the Chaldeans just showed again when before too long Miller sent a letter of apology and pledged to never offend in that manner again...that's REAL power,,. and each of us has it in the form of the dollar bills waded up in pockets or folded in wallets...but we don't use it. Instead we go on voting every few years...the only time any politician bothers to act like he cares what we think...and then, once in office, good luck. A boycott is far more powerful... --------------------- |
