...I agree completely with Christopher Hitchens that those who think they are being wise and mature and who say that "well, you don´t have to take the bible literally to admire the morality in the bible"...and he asks "what morality"?

,,as to the question always asked on this forum about why Christians feel they can do what they want but no one must complain or hold them accountable, I agree with Hitchens that at its core Christianity is all about NOT being responsible for your acts...especially your sins....you can merely grab a goat, or a human bean, load your sins on HIS back...drive HIM to his execution and be washed clean in the "blood of the lamb", or human. This is inherently and instinsically IMMORAL, not to mention a great big shirking of personal responsibility for YOUR actions...you can´t be ethical or moral and accept that someone else, someone totally innocent of YOUR crimes (or ANY crimes in the case of Jesus)can, by being put to death "for me" wash away YOUR sins...leaving you smelling as fresh as a daisy and ready for more sin, and more after that because you can alwats renew your deal with the one you slaughtered to do it to him again and again, as long as you live and THEN get your ulitmate reward for at least having asked "forgiveness every so often...because you NEEDED to since it was so damn easy to sin and get washed clean, this is an invitation, a recipe, for murder and mayhem and barbarity as-you-please. Just look around you.

It´s not only reprehensible but it produces just the kind of people we see parading around as Christians who believe they have been SAVED, committing the most awful criems against innocent people and feeling no remorse or sense of shame or guilt whatsoever, never mind responsibility...except sometimes when it catches up with them and they commit suicide.
