...the so-called "threat" of nuclear missles in Cuba is another case in point...Khruschev had told the United States repeatedly to dismantle the hundreds of missles with nuclear warheads stationed in Turkey and other countries aimed at Moscow and other cities....and remember, the United States had already shown itself ready to use such weapons of mass destruction on sleeping women and children...so the Soviets had every good reason to be afraid of this Christian nation....when the United States refused to take away its threat, even though earlier adminsistrations had promised to do so, Khruschev decided to show the Christians what it feels like to have missles pointing at your citizens...naturally the Christians howled and yelled...they can do these things because they LIKE and trust THEMSELVES...but the rest of the world knows better...finally Kennedy had to back down and do the right thing...it was a threat from AMERICA that brought us to the "brink", not a threat from the Soviet Union.
