...it never ceases to amaze me, I mean the self-hatred we assyrians feel for ourselves....here is netreino, among othersm bring before us another Euro, David gaunt, and presenting him as a reliable source on the modern history of our community...Gaunt is an Assyriologis who chose modern assyrians and their "genocide" as a hobby...most likely because he could get funding from various religious and assyrian sources...again, it's "ball-stroking" time. Here's what gaunt has to say about Joseph..... "Before 2000 almost nothing had been written on Seyfo that one could even consider calling scholarly. The only exception that comes to mind is Joseph Yacoub’s dissertation at the Catholic University in Lyon, France. It deals mostly with how the League of Nations dealt with the Assyrian question, but it touches on the genocide in its background chapters and it is still a very useful piece of research. The influential works written in the 1980s by the American professor John Joseph gloss over Seyfo, and can therefore be used by those who stop genocide recognition. Almost everything we now know about the details has come in the last 10 years." ..get that? Joseph is accused by this Brit of glossing over Seyfo, meaning the alleged genocide of Christians by Turks.... He's talking about on of us...one of us who earned hid doctorate in THIS field, and not ancient history...the supposed genocide of assyrians took place, not in 1918 BC...but only a few decades ago...a time period covered by Joseph's expertise...what Gaunt means is that Joseph does not feel the way HE does about this genocide claim....and we? We LIKE gaunt...we PREFER Gaunt, even though in the next breath we slam the Brit for "betraying us",,,,but we like THIS guy because he rubs our balls the right way. What a spectacle we make! Gaunt admits he got his information from anecdotes, poems, personal histories etc. An Assyriologist may be satisfied with these 'sources", like Wikipedia....but real scholars and academics could never graduate in their fields, especially history, if they relied on word-of-mouth evidence...imagine relying on Germans to tell you the REAL story behind the Holocaust...or who started WW II....or WW I? Joseph is the qualified expert here, not Gaunt.and it is instructive that nestreino would bring us Gaunt while insisting on remaining ignorant of Joseph. --------------------- |
