...one of the many sneaky tricks Christians play is equating those who question the existence of any genocide by Turks to denial of the Hollocuast...the two sets of deniers have nothing in common because the two events and the countries and conditions under which they occured and are alledged to have occured have nothing significant in common. For one thing in the one case Christians are being accused of a genocide against Jews...in the other case Muslims are being accused of genocide against Christians...however, if you examine the previous history of the treatment of Jews by Christians (in Germany and elsewhere in Europe) to that of Christians by Ottomans, you find a world of difference. There is a long history of active and brutal persecution of Jews by Christians...this is not the case at all for Christians living under Ottoman rule. Those claiming that Islam, Turks or Arabs engaged in the similar sort of behavior and indulged the same kinds of crimes as did Christians against Jews have the obligation to present their facts...not religious testimony but verifiable facts. In fact history paints a completerly different picture of the behavior displayed towards both minorities by their overlords. There´s no need for me to provide the evidence rather those who say the previous history of both Christians and Ottomans was the same where religious minorities are concerned have the burden of proof...where is their evidence? An accused person does not have to prove his innocence...rather his accuser has to present facts which condemn him...where are they? Who can doubt what occured in Germany in the war...or in Europe for hundreds of years where Jews are concerned...and who has the evidence to show that anything even remotely similar happened to Christians in Turkey, at any time? Christian bigotry, as evidenced by this same Hollocaust, is well known...therefore it is more than likely that accusations against the Ottoman Turks come from the same sentiment: hatred of Islam induces Christians to insist, inspite of the total lack of historical precedent, that Muslims "must have" done the same...must have committed the same crimes as Christians did against innocent minorities in their charge. --------------------- |
