California governor signs law preventing male circumcision ban

The law prevents local governments from enforcing such a ban
A San Francisco group tried in July to get a citywide ban added to the November ballot
The new law takes effect immediately

(CNN) -- California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Sunday a bill that prevents local governments from banning the practice of male circumcision.

The legislation comes in response to an effort this summer by a San Francisco Bay Area advocacy group opposed to the practice to get a measure proposing a citywide ban added to the November 8 city ballot.

In July, a Superior Court judge ordered the proposed measure removed from the ballot, saying that male circumcision is "a widely practiced medical procedure" and that medical services are left to the regulation of the state, not individual cities.

The legislation signed Sunday, which takes effect immediately, prohibits governments at the local or county level from "restricting the practice of male circumcision" and "declares that the laws affecting male circumcision must have uniform application throughout the state."

...circumcision is NOT a medical procedure....it doesn't "cure" anything...it doesn't "correct a defect"....besides which it is vivisection, operating on living tissue without anaesthetic.....and you can't do that to dogs any more.

...I understand the legal technicality but this barbarism must be ended one way or the other....if I was lawyer I would bring a class action suit against all Moyels....the Jewish practitioners who clip baby boys. They are monsters...doesn't mater if their monstrous god says it's okay, our civil laws say there is NO reason to cut parts from a baby's body.

..and the hygiene and cancer claims are bogus as well....the foreskin is a marvelous way to KEEP you clean, but you're supposed to help by BATHING! Even if circumcision could prevent penile cancer....that's no justification for cutting up all boys and rendering them sexually desensitized.....millions of women die from breast cancer, far far more than men who die of penile cancer yet no one would think cutting off the breasts of ALL 12 year old girls was a good preventative.

Circumcision is an easy money-maker and that's the reason doctors and hospitals are hanging onto it.
