...can't find "Lineal Descent" but this is a good place to start:

..no one among us can provide a direct line of descent or ancestry back to the time of Ashurbanipal. The most we can do is go back a hundred years...maybe. It's absurd, of course, to talk of direct or lineal descent. Unless you want to include Apes in your ancestry, in which we have a strong and scientific connection.
