No, it isn't a computer game. It's the title of a book by John J. Robinson...as easy read but most interesting about the Knights Templar...a religious order of fighting monks who dedicated themselves, for a few years only, to protecting Christian Pilgrims to the Holy Land...who went on to become another gang of cutthroats, but very wealthy ones and whom both the French King and the Pope conspired against, killing many, ruining their order and strealing their wealth.

The author makes no mention of an advanced degree although his bibliography is extensive....and I believe that unlike Aprim, he actually read all those books and didn't just list a bunch to impress anyone and bamboozle his audience....I've never heard of the publishers, M. Evans and Company but I see reviews from the New York Tinmes Book Review, the Washington Times and Publishers Weekley, all heavyweights and so I think it's safe to trust the sholarship here.

It's instructive to learn the author is an ex-Marine and a Christian.

The following are excerpts....

Speaking of the start of the Crusades and the Church's call to go and "save" the Holy Land from Muslim "inmfidels", the author writes:

"With such religious tolerance on the part of the Muslim rulers of Jerusalem, and with access to the Holy Places for Christian Pilgrims, it was going to take some skillful effort on the part of the pope to stir up the people of Europe to the point that they would leave their homes to risk their lives in a foreign land". p. 10

Ah, yes. But, we know why they really went. It wasn't to save anything or anybody....it was to steal, to kill, to rape and to steal. It's just the Knights Templar, like the Hospitalers and the Teutonic Knights created a bigger front for themselves than your normal lying, theiving Christian.
