...there are two ways to get money for the government...one is to "tax and spend", as the Dems are accused of...th other is "borrow and spend"...as the Repubs prefer. Both parties need to spend, that's a given. Their argument is about whom you get the money from. Dems feel the people themselves should pay in direct taxes, especially the wealthier...the Repubs prefer to borrow the money so they can brag about "reducing your taxes"...meaning their own more than anybody else's. The things is the borrowed money still has to be paid back,,.,,and with interest. So the solution the Repubs favor winds up costing more in the long run....but not as much to them, which is their whole point. Our taxes are increasingly being used up in paying back these loans, interest first. It's just a scam any way you look at it. America doesn't want to spend its money, directly, for what it wants....so it borrows and thinks it "saved" something...except it winds up paying even more in interest in the end anyway. It's just a way to get into office...to sound apealling to the jackasses who vote for Repubs. A pox on both their houses. --------------------- |
