No one wants to live in an environment where they are oppressed and gagged. None of the Assyrian forums that I have visited (aside from one… I will let you guess which one) practices censorship for no good reason. All of them have rules of conduct. You are allowed to stay within the rules and for as long as you abide by what is common to all, you should not be discriminated upon.

...hehehehe. It galls these people that the only really free and open forum is our's...and that's because it is an ASSYRIAN and not a Christian forum...Christians are infamous for gagging people, banning and censoring them AND burning them at the stake.

No democratic process allows you unlimited personal freedoms.

...a forum isn't a "democractic process"..it isn't any kind of a "process" at all...a forum is an OPEN MARKETPLACE FOR THE FREE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS...it is a THING and not a PROCESS, a NOUN and not a VERB....use a dictionary once in awhile.

On any forum you will find that there are certain guidelines that are asked of the participant on how to uphold the decorum and etiquette of dealing with other people.

...not on our's. Our only rule is the Assyrian Self-Banning Rule...people KNOW whether or not they belong...THEY make the decision to post and THEY make the decision NOT to...they come...and they go AWAY...people are free to say whatever they wnat because words don't hurt anything or anyone....unless they are MEANT to. The fact that you all get "hurt" when someone challenges you is YOUR problem...the fact that you can't deal with issues WITHOUT getting your feelings hurt or yourselves INSULTED is your problem...it is NOT the intention of the people wrting.

..you all say we are UNFAIR over here...how can that be when you are allowed to say ANYTHING you want? We don't even remove insulting posts...we just ignore them and remain focused on issues and ideas...it is this freedom to poke holes in your beliefs that you resent..it is your fear of having people say whatever they want about your IDEAS that keeps you all away...it is the fact that you can't explain much or defend much UNLESS you know there are censors waiting to protect you that makes you all stay away..and that's wonderful...because everyone can then see that you have hardly any DEPTH in your ideas....just a lot of noise.

When under the guise of “Freedom of Speech” you step beyond these guidelines, you need to remember not only your own ‘Freedoms” but that of the other person.

...so long as EVERYONE is promised complete freedom...no one loses. You've been allowed to say whatever you wanted over here..so has everyone else...but the difficulty for you has BEEN that: so is everyone ELSE...we are as free to challenge your ideas...and THAT'S what you can't stand...as you can see we have no trouble here...we threaten no one...we demand no apologies..we show no favortiism...while you all have to hunt up a "forum" you know will protect you from your own follies and shallowness.

You cannot stomp over the other person’s freedoms because that is exactly why these rules are there. One might say, yeah the other person can exercise the same rights. By shattering all the rules the exchange comes to a point where the whole thing deteriorates into “Free for All’ situation.

..what stomping? How can you STOMP on anyone by merely posting your IDEAS? When did freedom to WRITE become "stomping"? How does my writing something STOP someone else from writing? Unless my presence and my freedom to express myself will make that person feel FOOLISH and his or her inabillity to respond intelligently or to the point will make the person FEEL like they're being "stomped"? Again, it is YOUR limitations that cause you the problems...problems you want to blame on the vigor, resourcefulness and capabillity of the OTHER person...and this is EXACTLY how you people go through life...which is the reason you're all begging a Messiah to come save you...we can take care of ourselves...anywhere. You are a hothouse flower...if someone doesn't maintain an artificial atmosphere for you, you will wilt and die,,,well, we have a free and open space here...not a glassed in environment with air and water pumped in...freedom scares you...not because words "stomp" on you, but because you haven't the depth and strength to MAINTAIN that freedom.

A public forum should not be dictated by a few people’s attitude and behavior.

...but it always is...why is it "dictating' when someone WRITES and everyone else is AS FREE to write?

Like most of you I do not support “Censorship” in a public forum

..of course you do...you just don't like it when it becomes obvious.

but I personally will support “Banning” a person only when they toss the guidelines aside and deliberately step over someone else’s personal rights.

...I was banned for calling a friend of the moderator a "fool"...this friend got not even a reprimand when he called someone "sick" and implied the man was an "animal"...and the reason is because that man is a friend and the other man is not...it's that simple. Since then priests have been called "imbeciles" because they were the 'wrong" kind of priests...you're justifiably pissed to find all those noble-sounding words were just words...

When you are allowed the right to say and do certain things at the expenses of someone else’s rights then you do deserve the consequences. That is banning.

...then John Esho should also have been asked for an apology...

The guidelines should apply equally to all. No exceptions.

...but there ARE exceptions...that's why there are so many battling sects AND forums...there's only one forum which welcomes EVERYONE..and it is NOT a Christian one.

This is how I see it and I am sure someone out there will not agree with me.

....I agree with you...now get your moderator to agree.
