Remember that pastor, Terry Jones, who wanted to burn the Quran to piss of Muslims? He did it and caused some trouble.

NY Daily News

Afghans infuriated by a fringe Florida pastor's burning of the Koran stormed a United Nations compound Friday and killed seven people - beheading two of them.

Armed with guns seized from guards and fueled by outrage over Pastor Terry Jones' March 20 desecration of the Islamic holy text, the protesters reportedly executed four Nepalese guards and the three European workers they were guarding in Mazar-i-Sharif.

"Two of the killed UN staff were beheaded," local police spokesman Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai told Agence France-Presse.

The publicity-hungry, hate-mongering pastor who became infamous when he planned to burn a Koran near Ground Zero on the 9/11 anniversary lashed out at the protesters.

"We must hold these countries and people accountable for what they have done as well as for any excuses they may use to promote their terrorist activities," he said in a statement.

In an appalling eight-minute video posted online, Jones appeared dressed as a judge presiding over a five-hour mock trial of the Koran.

A pastor at Jones' Gainesville, Fla., church set the sacred book upright on an indoor fire pit and set it ablaze.

Protests erupted around Afghanistan, with some angry demonstrators burning an American flag at a sports stadium in Herat.

Afghan authorities believe insurgents blended into the protesters in Mazar-i-Sharif, grabbed weapons from UN guards and opened fire, the Associated Press reported.

More than 20 people were arrested, including a militant officials suspect was the ringleader.

President Obama condemned the attack "in the strongest possible terms" and emphasized his support for the U.N. staff in Afghanistan.

"Their work is essential to building a stronger Afghanistan for the benefit of all its citizens," Obama said. "We stress the importance of calm and urge all parties to reject violence and resolve differences through dialogue."

On Saturday, NATO forces beat back an attack on a base outside the capital Kabul, killing at least two insurgents, officials said.

Three coalition soldiers were wounded in the attack but not seriously, the Associated Press reported.

Kabul's police chief said two of the attackers died when they detonated their suicide vests. A third was shot.

I guess he feels better now.
