I guess the way we decide what is real history and what to reject isn’t very different from the way the Church decided, by vote no less, which books would be “the word of God” and which they would leave out. In pretty much the same way we reserve the right to decide which historian is to be believed and which is to be called a fool, an enemy who wants to keep Assyrians down, an agent of the JewsTurksArabsKurds, a CIA operative and whatever else we need to sustain this fragile myth that we are the sons of bitches of Ashurbanipal. None other than the famous British historian Edward Gibbon got it right when he saw what was being done by the British press and Catholic agents….in his “The History of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire”, where he states that the Nestorians; “Under the name of Chaldeans and Assyrians, are confounded with the most learned or the most powerful nation of Eastern antiquity”. Without having the benefit of Aprim and Ishaya’s backflips and Rosie’s purple prose he recognized the absurdity of claiming any kind of direct, lineal, descent from people whose origins are shrouded by the mists of history. Any Greek who, at the same time, insisted he was a direct descendant of Socrates would have been laughed at just as loudly. If such a Greek went on to claim a triangle of land at the foot of the Parthenon as his by right of indigenous inheritance, he would have been escorted to an insane asylum and dressed in an appropriate gown, with straps to match. Come on people…let’s get real and maybe we can salvage some real pride. Another and a greater historian for his reach, Will Durant, has this to say in “Rousseau and Revolution”, volume ten, in his series of eleven, and winner of a Pulitzer Prize(“what kinda priz, I never herd dat, is dat like bingo priz, how much?”) has this to say, on a different subject, after Turkey’s defeat in war with Russia in 1774…page 458: “Turkey…granted amnesty to Christians involved in insurrections against their Turkish governors, and acknowledged the right of Russia to protect Christians in Turkey”. Now, we may like the sound of that, but it’s only one instance of the kind of thing which led to retaliation against Christians by their Muslim rulers. I mean how would Americans feel towards Blacks if an African nation defeated it and said they would from then on protect Afro-American rights and that all Afro-Americans who’d risen against their own American government must be forgiven their treachery? I doubt Afro-Americans would be viewed as anything other than hostile and potential betrayers of their country the next time around…and if America gained the upper hand against that African nation which had defeated it, it would deal most harshly with its own citizens who’d given aid and comfort and worked for America’s enemy. Let’s at least recognize that much reality. We must have thought that each time a Christian power made war against Turkey, that they were looking to defeat the Turks unconditionally and even take over the country, thereby bringing Jesus Christ to reign over us. But how little we understood Europe’s need for Turkey. No Christian power ever wanted to occupy Turkey and rule it. The Brits didn’t even want to rule India, just milk it. Turkey is like a cork stopping the opening to Asia. Any Christian power that made the mistake of taking over the country entirely and, as a consequence, changing its religion in our favor, would have inherited a headache of grand proportions, placing its head and resources right at the entryway to Europe and in the path of hordes and hordes of “barbarians”. Indeed the French kings, as well as Swedish, paid money to the Sultans and maintained treaties in order to use the Turks against opposing European nations. At no time would it have been in any Christian country’s interests to take over all of Turkey…not even Russia, who wouldn’t have minded, would have been allowed to get away with it by the other European powers. Therefore all we achieved by lending the Christian occupiers a hand was further their immediate goals, after which they left us to suffer the righteous and well-deserved wrath of our Muslim fellows. And if you look real closely, you’ll see the same thing happening all over again. America has no intention of taking over Iraq…never did. They don’t WANT it to turn Christian…even if they thought they could do it. All Iraq means to them, besides the oil they would have gotten anyway, except at a much greater profit margin now, is a sinkhole where they can claim to be depositing all those billions that pass through the hands of war-profiteers who are supposed to be making us “safe and secure”, while they bleed our treasury. In order for all this oil profit to flow and for Congress to have a likely excuse to funnel tax dollars to corporate profiteers, who kickback to the politicians, is if Iraq STAYS Muslim and can be built up as a never-ending threat to American peace and prosperity…which would be very hard to justify if Iraq was somehow rendered ‘friendly” by converting to Christianity. America NEEDS a hostile Iraq…hostile now, that is…after years of hard work to make it so. All our so-called work on behalf of America’s financial interests have been spent to promote those interests…not our own and certainly not of the Christian minority in Iraq…or anywhere else in the MidEast. This thick-headed drive to “help” Christian powers because they might “give us something” has been an unmitigated disaster…and it still is and always will be. Those jackasses among us who promote this sort of thing and have been for hundreds of years are merely masturbating with the erotic vision of themselves as “Fathers of their Country”…”descendants of Ashurbanipal” and whatever it takes to get themselves off….oh yeah, and one “Mother of her country” whose orgasms on behalf of Assyria you can feel all the way from here.. --------------------- |
