...that Islam has been gunning for the United States since the late 1800s,...that an Islamic country was the first country to attack the newly minted United States, during Jefferson´s presidency when pritaes in Tripoli, Africa made a practise of seizing American sailors to be sold as slaves...when Jefferson protested Hitchens claims the leader of the pirates said that Islam gave him the RIGHT to enslave infidels....which is odd because at that same time infiderls, Jews and Christians, were leading protected lives among the Ottomans, where Jews were being still persecuted and murdered by Christians and no Muslims was allowed to live in Christians lands.... If this is all true, and I´ve realized you have to take Hitchsn´s with a ton of salt where Islam is concerned, what about the mandate Christians gave themselves to steal Africans into slavery...and what about the rights claimed by the Church to forcibly convert millions of non-Christians...through force? Why is it bad when a Muslim, and a pirate at that, does it but okay when the pope, the moral leader, not a pirate mind you but the highest official of the Catholic Church, sanctions it? --------------------- |
