For years now they've claimed that not only the Chaldeans but also the Yezidis are Assyrians and now they've gone and demanded an autonomous region without their consent in which the Assyrians are the minority and the Chaldeans and Yezidis are the majority.

And to prove their claim they site the massacre of 58 Chaldeans = labeling them Assyrians - in church as the zenith of their persecution conveniently forgetting the hundreds of Yezidis killed by extremists who perpetrated the single most devastating terrorist attack of the Iraq war in August 2007; four truck bombs killed almost 500 Yezidis in two villages in the Nineveh Plains.

But wait it's WE who are being persecuted.

What's sad is that it's not the Assyrians in the West are being deceived by US funded propaganda and media that allows Assyrians to be presented as convenient footnotes in the US wars of agression and the control of the Middle Eastern oil.
