...America would still be at it. There was no oil in Korea...none in Vietnam. Eisenhower didn't warn Americans to be wary of oil companies but of a growing military-industrial complex that would create wars, not to win them and not because there was a real threat but because it was becomming one of the best businesses of the modern age. Mistakes were not "made"...not in Korea, not in Vietnam and not in Iraq...and there won't be any in Afghanistan..at least not the kind they mean...the point to these wars is to keep Americans frightened so they'll vote the right people in, because if the power people admitted their real reasons for wanting to rule, very few people would be so foolish as to vote for them. The point to these wars is to have them...that is victory enough, more than enough. If there had never been oil in the MidEast America would still be using Islam as a pretext...like Christians used Judaism and communism. --------------------- |
