...in a discussion Shlomo Sand said that it wasn't only the Jews who were invented in the 19th century...Germans, Italians and others were also invented....there had been no "Germany" or "Italy" until then, just several city-states...it was the thing to do apparently, create new "nations"...and we sneaked in there too and invented our own.
