Assyrians Object to Iraqi Flag Changes *LINK* *PIC* Posted By: Maggie Yonan Date: Sunday, 27 January 2008, at 2:01 p.m. Arbil, Jan 26, (VOI) – The Assyrian Congress on Saturday expressed their rejection of changes approved by the Iraqi parliament to the national flag a week ago. "Amidst all the political crises that threaten Iraq's unity and destiny, the parliament has lost all sense of priority and was involved in some campaigns meant to be a red herring away from all crucial matters in the Iraqi state," the Assyrian Congress, a small group of ethnic Assyrian political and cultural powers in Iraq, said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). ...sure. But it was okay for us to be designing flags for "Assyria" and "Chaldea" a couple of years ago...without anything better to do, why not? Every new nation designs a new flag for itself...because they have a NATION to do it for. Iraq has changed everything else about it...why not its flag too. --------------------- |
