First off it can't be stressed enough that the worst atrocities ever inflicted on Assyrians in Iraq came as a result of direct American and other Christian nation coalition forces attacked the innocent people of Iraq. Saddam never did anything even close to what America has done to the people of Iraq, including the Assyrians. In fact it could be argued that the Assyrians have suffered everything the Muslims of Iraq have suffered with the added bonus of now being hated for being of the same religion as those who brought this mayhem to Iraq. Let's not lose sight of that. The armies of thugs which have been unleashed on the civilian population can trace their origins to the US invasion and occupation...and even where they are concerned, the United States has murdered far more innocent people than ISIS has, or ever will. We focus on beheadings, as if that is significant...whereas starving a child to death is something not even ISIS has done, or been accused of but which the United States was directly responsible for, to the tune of 700,000 Iraqi babies murdered in this slow and agonizing method....would that we could have seen and heard the cries of babies dying of hunger....but those photos are kept from us. Now to our own nationalists; they claim they love their homeland and love the Assyrians there...which is their reason for calling for a safe-haven in Iraq. What would the world have thought of Jews in America calling for a safe-haven in Berlin in 1943? Could they have passed themselves off as a "lover of my people"? I think not. Our nationalists have a hard-on for themselves. Being safe and far away themselves they see no personal cost to making these grandiose demands and issuing these flowery calls..my favorite of which is to have Assyrians, in Iraq, "stand up and demand justice"...right. If they followed this advice they would stand up and be killed. No thank you, this is not love of country or people but love of ONESELF. Love of ones words, love of showing off...love of appearing to be brave....love of nothing more than the sound of your own voice, never mind the cost to others. Assyrians of this type now want the few remaining in Iraq to stay where they are...they are critical of Anna Eshoo and anyone else who would try to get them out and to safety, the same safety that these assholes are free to enjoy because someone got THEM out. How much more proof do we need to see that we are our own worst enemies? --------------------- |
