...that this one church would act thus.... Episcopal bishops reject ultimatum By RACHEL ZOLL, AP Religion Writer NEW YORK - Episcopal bishops risked losing their place in the global Anglican family Wednesday by affirming their support for gays and rejecting a key demand that they give up some authority to theological conservatives outside the U.S. church. In strong and direct language, the Episcopal House of Bishops said it views the Gospel as teaching that "all God's children, including gay and lesbian persons, are full and equal participants" in the church. The bishops also said they would not agree to an Anglican plan for leaders outside the U.S. denomination to oversee the small number of conservative American dioceses that disagree ...however, let`s leave out the part about a god and just say that people, just plain folks, can accept that people are all to be treated fairly and squarely..and that while this one sect has behaved as decent human beans, one shouldn`t forget that the franchise holders have been among the cruelist and most savage people anywhere...largely due to how they chose and still choose to interpret this religion. ...how would it look if we kept any other belief system of 2000 years ago? Pretty dumb, no? Yet that`s what we`ve chosen to do with our "moral" beliefs.,.and at that in the most sensitive area....what we say a GOD told us to do...like we were any heathen still chanting round an altar where a human sacrifice drips blood which, come to think of it, is exatcly what these people still do. The linchpin of our society, with all its technology and weapons and potential for good or bad, was forged in a desert 3000 years ago...is that really smart? --------------------- |
