..I just heard that Nimrod died this past Sunday from heart failure etc. He was 87. I never wished him harm....never did a mean thing to him except not allow him to put the Shumirum Monument to his own personal use. Let him rest in peace. But...now that he's out of the way and no longer threatening the city of Chicago with a lawsuit if install our monument perhaps it's time to re-open negotiations with the city. Last time I spoke with Michael Lash, the executive director of the Arts Council he said that as far as he and the city were concerned, the monument of Shumirum was their's...having been donated to the city...also that they were eager to install it if we would just take care of ONE MAN...not an Arab or Kurd or Turk or Muslim but one of our OWN who, like all our "enemies" belongs to US. Now that he's removed himself maybe it's worthwhile to try again...after nine years of obstruction and 13 years spent creating the monument and funding it...this particular monument is 22 years in the making and it STILL hasn't been installed...who stopped us...who was our enemy...Turks? Kurds? No....us. Maybe there's a lesson here: if enough of those who "love Assyrians" would just die....we might all be better off. --------------------- |
