Liberation In My Hands Jeff just flew into Manzanillo and put Dr John Joseph’s book in my hands…the rules of hospitality require that I had to take Jeff out for some seafood by the brilliant sea and try to drown him with beer…and if that wasn’t enough we stopped off for some margarita and colada fixins so he should be four sheets to the wind soon and I can get to reading…however I did crack the book open and read the introductions…and I just have to put down this quote from the revised edition dated 1999: ”More than ever before , members of the new Assyrian generation realize that they have to be knowledgeable about the past as well as the present, and that a partisan history of their people, in the words of one Assyrian author, ‘is paid little respect and eventually is undermined by trained historians”. Who can argue with that? I’m as impatient as can be to get into this book, but I have to get Jeff drunk first and off to bed…and than. --------------------- |
