...it seems they've finally achieved the kind of forum they always wanted...a place where people can be endlessly polite while saying nothing. Everyone is a Khon, a brother and a sister...and all of them are in a state of "love". It's somewhat like an art class in which everyone is terrified of being seriously critiqued or challenged and so praise is passed out all around and everyone "supports" everyone else..."you like me and I'll like you", is the standard approach.

...in this treacly atmosphere the sugar drips, diabetes runs rampant. anything goes and nothing means anything. The silent accord is that you point out no glaring flaws in me and I'll lavish praise on you...then we'll switch and do it again.

...imagine any school on earth...or any marketplace for ideas run on these sweet principles...these people are terrified of resistance...of any kind. If they had their way the air would never oppose an airplane....the fact that it would sit, useless, on the ground is a small price to pay for the promise of safety that results when you can't take off and fly. Of course, the fact that you won't get to Cleveland but sit on the runway forever doesn't matter...for these people are going nowhere. They're just glad not to run the risk of flying.
