Maggie's point is to some extend valid. By:SOS Date: Friday, 9 February 2007, at 11:39 pm In Response To: "THE CRYING GAME" & INTELLECUTAL HONESTY (Filham) The points that Maggie is making (the way I understood it) is to some extend valid. I believe what she is saying, is that if we are divided and weak, as we are at this moment, the issue of work “for” or work “with” is academic, since the result would be the same. We would end up compromising our interest and work for the Kurd, either way. That’s why she is suggesting that a united front, made of most if not all the opposition parties (parliament), is needed to have the necessary weight in order to be able to make a difference, when negotiating with Kurds. And hopefully it would help us to be a partner with the Kurd, instead of working for them. My point is that, even if ADM, in the future, will be forced and end up working for the Kurds, we should at least recognize the fact that ADM’s goal and strategy has been (if I’m right) to work for and be a junior partner with KDP. It has been said, one reason that ADM leadership moved to baghdad was to gain more independence from KDP, and hopefully gain some other friends, who might help ADM, to strenghten its negotiation position in the north. We might agree with her or not, but its something worth discussing. SOS --------------------- |
