...one good thing to come of the violence in Mexico's drug wars is that it might start people thinking about the futility of enforcing morality. American went through this during Prohibition...and it didn't work then either. Legislation and enforcement will never, never ever, stop people from chasing their vices. By definition a vice is something worth a great deal of risk. If drugs were legalized tomorrow, all drug, the drug cartels would fold up and go away....except that now they're primed and ready to move on to other criminal behavior...the lesson is one should never start down the path of creating criminals...which is all Prohibition and drug wars have done. Without a moral majority there never could have been an Al Capone. Oh well. --------------------- |
