Friday: One Iraqi Killed, 3 Wounded by Margaret Griffiths Friday, Dec,31 2010 Only one violent incident was reported today. In it, gunmen attacked a Garma checkpoint, where they killed a solider and wounded three others. Several stories about Iraq's future prospects surfaced as well. For women and Christians the future looks bleak, but it may be the children of Fallujah who will suffer the most in the coming years as a surge in birth defects looms over them. Meanwhile, Anbar had tightened security ahead of the New Year's Day, particulary in Christian areas, while security officials have reopened several roads in Tal Afar thanks to improving conditions. Also, an education official in Khalis has been accused of being a death squad leader. Thursday: 3 Iraqis killed, 34 wounded -- Dec. 30, 2010 Wednesday: 8 Iraqis killed, 17 wounded -- Dec. 29, 2010 Tuesday: 18 Iraqis killed, 11 wounded -- Dec. 28, 2010 Monday: 24 Iraqis killed, 66 wounded -- Dec. 27, 2010 Sunday: 3 Iraqis killed, 2 wounded -- Dec. 26, 2010 -- And I just read that an elderly Chaldean (or maybe Assyrian) couple in their mid to late 70's were blown to shreds by a bomb left on their front door. I wonder what Hitchen's response is this endless body count? --------------------- |
