...the guy can handle himself in a debate just fine...the problem is that his opponents keep interrupting him...and I have a feeling that if the moderators cut them off, theyīll cry "anti-semitism" and refuse to appear with Norman...Iīm sure he realizes that too and also realizes that itīs good to keep his opponents out in the open so we can all see their tactics rudeness and floundering around trying to justify Isarelīs criminal behavior, and how they deal with serious controversy...for people who gloat that they have the only democracy in the region blah blah blah, they sure act like street thugs in trying to drown Norman out...though they are well dressed thugs and many sporting advanced degrees. My favorite tactic of theirīs is to ask Norman a question right back rather than answer the one he just posed to them...and then they turn around and say "how come YOU wonīt answer my question", hoping no one notices that their question was nothing more than a way to avoid answering the one just put to THEM...usually he catches them and doesnīt fall for the diversion...sometimes he canīt resist... But you get the full flavor of his reasoned explanations by hearing him lecture..of course if actual rules were maintained heīd be just as effective in debate...but he gets shouted down too often...if you want to hear the very UNcomplicated explanation of the Isareli/Palestinian conflict watch his lecture titiled "Norman Finkelstein Prague Day" ,,,itīs a straight forward, slow, thoughtful description which very easily puts the whole thing in perspective. This "conflict" which has been going on since the day I reached 20, the same year my first son was born, in 1967, isnīt complicated at all...or difficult to resolve...in fact, itīs very, very simple....which is the reason Zionists try to keep Norman from explaining it...they keep saying "yes but when your neighbors are NASTY..." Well, ask yourself WHY they might be nasty...and if they are, call the POLICE! If Israel would accept what the world community and the courts of international law demand of it and complies with international law, any breach at all by the Palestinians would then bring swift condemnation from that same international court and world community AND action. You donīt get to declare war on your neighbors when you have a dispute...you call in the police. Plus which there is the spectre of Isareli nuclear weapons added to the constant drumbeat of war against Iran, which is once again being maneuvered, as Iraq wasbefore it, into the postion of a threat to the WORLD...Saddam was Hitler and now Ahmadinejad is Hitler...whoīs next? Isarel is the crazy State, not Iran...does it really matter who turns out to have been more "violent" since Isarel HAS the weapons and is the one calling for war? Any use, by Israel, of nuclear weapons in the MidEast is an attack against ALL of us! The reprecussions are terrible to imagine...which leads me to believe that no one is going to use them EXCEPT Isarel can use the "fear" of their use, as Bush did, to justify an almost equally horrible wave of violence by all sorts of weapons short of nuclear, with all of us expected to heave a sigh of relief that at least THOSE bombs were not used. I still look forwrd to Normanīs explanation as to why the United States uses Isarel to prolong discord in the MidEast....shouldnīt a forensic historian, as he describes himself, look to motive? Any police investigation begins there. --------------------- |
