...Maybe, for the present, our nationalists have learned that America, or any other Christian nation, is not going to give them anything...certainly not a country or zone, or district, or region or enclave or anything. But will they remember this when, later, the next country travels to the MidEast looking for chumps and suckers to use? They forgot the "betrayal" of the British soon enough after 1918...quickly enough to sign up as Levies, in 1920, and earn the hatred of their neighbors, who had welcomed them to Iraq, by working for the hated British....AGAIN! I'm sure at some future date a new crop of Aprims and Jassims will once again see an attack against Iraq as their "golden opportunity"...and quickly forget what just happened to THIS golden opportunity...the one they were all braying about just a few years ago....only now to realize they were "betrayed" again. They were NEVER betrayed...not by someone else. They always turn traitors to themselves...to their homeland. For this they are despised, not honored. But they never see it until it's too late. These people are religious fanatics. They point to the Bible, for their politics, and tell us about the "promise" of Issaiah...and since there are miracles in the Bible, "why can't there be another one"? Why can't they sit in a field and wait for a castle to be built up around them? After all...the God who made the sun stand still can build them an Assyria...."don't you see the LOGIC of it"?..they say, in all seriousness. I love the uses they make of what they call LOGIC. What can you do with such people except give them a lollipop, pat them on the head and tell them to go play parliament until Assyria is ready. --------------------- |
