...I received an e-mail alert about a "legalize travel to Cuba" bill. Here's the letter I wrote, instead of using the canned letter that they are encouraging us to write: Subject: Stop weakening our democracy I know that your response to me regarding this e-mail will be a worthless, meaningless form letter which obscures not only the meaning of the subject at hand, but also completely ignores this request. I know that you do not read these messages, but indifferent staff members receive them en masse and simply add constituents to mailing lists so that we can receive more empty form letters. And so it goes, our democracy weakens and crumbles. There is no valid reason for a travel ban to Cuba. You should be ashamed of yourself if you do not act on this bill. Please act today and become a co-sponsor of H.R.874 and S.428. If you have already done so, I appreciate your positive and just action on behalf of my right to travel to Cuba. If you have not, shame on you. _____________________________ I promise you, I will receive a form letter that does not even address my letter in response. --------------------- |
