...wondering about our nationalists again...they remind me of the guy who tells the coach he doesn't have time to waste going to practice...just put him when the Big Game rolls around and he'll score big. Sure thing.

What would Bet-Shlimon, Aprim, Jassim and Rosie "Over Here" Malik-Yonan do if ever they got the chance to make their case to the dreaded Arabs, Turks, Kurds, Muslims etc.? Imagine a scene where each of them stands before a responsible Muslim (or any) tribunal and has the chance to give all their arguments...present all their "proves" and recite every version of their history (and everybody else's) that they want to?

Would they even show up? Even if they knew that the granting of a territory or enclave or even of Assyria depended on how well they presented their case? Would they show up, start talking and then run out at the first question or challenge from the tribunal?

When we see how they deal with "practice", that is; how they handle themselves when confronted with "friendly fire", from us....how they run out and avoid and whimper and fume, it doesn't seem to me that they'd be ready to go up against the Big Game.

Without any practice, and only engaging when it is "safe"...they remind me of the guy who won't show up to practice but swears he's ready for the Big Game. If you want to lose...by all means, put him in. Which is exactly what's happened...we have these "heroes" and "nationalists" and they carry the banner of Assyria....and look at them.
