NEW YORK: At the United Nations police today arrested a band of ten or so Greeks. The Greeks were there to demand the return of their ancestral homelands and carried placards saying “Give us Back Greece”, and “We are the Indigenous Greeks”...also “The Parthenon Belongs to Me”.

Speaking to the press before being led off, their leader Theopoulos Poloupoulus said that his homeland had been stolen ages ago and must be returned to its rightful owners. 'I am Greek', he shouted....'So Greece is mine'. He said his ancestors had been born and lived and died on land where the Parthenon stood today and he demanded its return but said he was open to negotiation....'I'll take the land, you can keep the stone piles'.

A representative from the United Nations, said they had been besieged for years by these Greeks...'We have another group, of Assyrians, making the same sorts of demands'...'we try to be patient'.
